Before applying to join the scheme for your sale or purchase, please take a few moments to read all the information provided here. You can only opt to join the scheme at the beginning when you first instruct us to act for your house sale or purchase.

What costs are covered under the scheme?

Legal fees for work carried out only by MovingAhead on abortive transactions  (exclusive of all disbursements).

   

What costs are not covered under the scheme?

a. Disbursements such as searches and office copy entries.
b. Fees incurred with any third parties such as surveyors, financial advisors, mortgage lenders and estate agents.
   

How much does it cost to join the scheme?

The cost is £50 (plus VAT).
   

Can I effect cover under the scheme for a sale and purchase?

Cover can be provided for your sale, purchase or both.
   

Who is covered?

The buyer and/or seller of a specific property.
   

What type of property may be covered?

Residential properties in England and Wales.
   

How long does the cover last?

Cover is operative for six calendar months from the date that the scheme acceptance document is signed.
   

What happens after six months, on expiry of the scheme?

If the transaction(s) has/have not completed within the six month period, cover will lapse; however, you can extend cover for a further six months on payment of an additional fee.
   

What happens if the transaction(s) abort(s) after six months and cover has not been extended?

Full legal costs will be payable for all work carried out since the outset of the original transaction.
   

When must the scheme be taken up?

The scheme must be taken up at the outset when instructions are given to us to act.
   

When must the fee be paid?

The fee must be paid at the outset when instructions are given to us to act.
   

Are any fees payable under the scheme refundable?

No.
