Selecting anything solely on the basis of cost is really not very wise; selecting a lawyer on this basis is a recipe for disaster. Quite apart from being an incredibly unsatisfactory and frustrating experience, having to deal with inefficient lawyers can seriously jeopardise your chances of buying or selling that property at all. In the UK, many of us would agree that the majority of our wealth is often tied up in our property; it is probably our most valuable asset, so choose carefully!
It would be very easy for our practice to undercut its competitors and, as a result, substantially increase the number of conveyancing transactions we handle, but our standards of service would inevitably suffer. We know of legal firms that seem happy to follow this methodology and there will always be some people who believe that they can obtain fantastic levels of service at rock-bottom prices. Logic dictates otherwise, however, and, frankly, moving house is a stressful enough experience without the added burden of having an inefficient and impersonal lawyer to deal with!
How does our service differ from other "ordinary" legal practices? The greatest noticeable difference will be in the areas of accessibility, courtesy and general speed and efficiency. We believe that some lawyers have a certain reputation for being "out of the office", "in a meeting", "on holiday" or "on the other line" and often fail to return phone calls from their clients promptly (or at all). Correspondence can remain firmly lodged in their in-trays! Actually, we know this to be fairly commonplace, because we have to deal with these firms on a day to day basis. You will find things somewhat different at Pryse Jones as our team are all trained to meet rigorous standards of service. We do not want our clients to be merely pleased with our levels of service, we want them to be absolutely delighted. The fact that the vast majority of our referrals come from existing clients demonstrates that we are succeeding in this aim. We also believe that our clients would much rather talk to a trained and qualified individual than to an impersonal voicemail system.
